Thank you for being a HostBigSpace Customer! Hope you are having a great time with your business. We are issuing a small notice to all our developer customer’s!
In past few days, we have been working extremely hard to increase the speed and perfomance of server, and today, HostBigSpace has the fastest Super Alpha Reseller Server in the market. You may feel speed is average but Hosting 2000+ domains on a HDD server and maintaining the perfomance of websites is a not an easy job.
However, we have made a major change on the server to improve the speed. We have Disabled “Mail” Function for all websites. Don’t worry, this doesn’t mean you can’t send mails or create email accounts. We have disabled the PHPMail() function. This means scripts sending mails without authorization wont be able to deliver mails. You need to use SMTP in order to send out mails from a php script. Yes, you just have to enter smtp details in php script and nothing else.
Generally, sending our mails through phpmail doesn’t reach the exact receiver. In fact, Major Mail companies like Gmail have blocked mails through php mails and all mails sent through phpmail goes to spam. And clients complain mails going to spam. Mails sent through SMTP get delivered to inbox folder 99.9% of times.
One major reason why we have disabled phpmail is, clients installing nulled scripts, or outdated scripts. Often installing nulled scripts injects a decoded code in you script which sents out Huge amount of spam mails from that website without owner knowing about it. They use PHPMail function as it doesn’t need authorization and can send spam mails 24/7 without the knowledge of owner. This lead to server getting blacklisted again and again where all other clients get affected.
Disabling phpmail function has helped us reduce server load upto 10 times, this directly results in websites loading faster!
Almost all scripts wordpress, joomla, drupal etc. have smtp options pre installed, you can read this article in our knowledge base for further details –
This article also contains a simple script designed by our team which will help you find your SMTP details.
Also, clients hosting heavy websites like news blogs, heavy animation, or any heavy activity site need to enable Cloudflare from cpanel immediately. This help us reduce server load, and thereby it increases speed of that website. Note: The more heavy website is, the more slower it will load. CloudLinux provides a cage like structure for each and every account which help to control the resources utilized by each site.
That’s it for now, if you have any queries do open a ticket and get back to us 🙂
